Range, Speed and Wheel Size

The numbers that define an electric kick scooter: range 9–200 km, top speed 14–160 km/h, European caps of 20 and 25 km/h, wheels 8–11 inches, and a 2022 casualty band of 1.5–20.6 per million trips.

Reference ranges for electric kick scooters run from 9 km to 200 km (6 to 124 mi) on a charge. The low end corresponds to compact commuter machines; the high end corresponds to large-battery performance models. Read the band as a comparison scale between two scooters rather than a promise for one trip.

Maximum speeds span 14 km/h to 160 km/h (9 to 99 mph). The upper figures are hardware ceilings. In Europe e-scooters are usually limited to 20 and 25 km/h, so the legal number you ride at is normally far below the rated top end.

Wheels are the third column of the same spec block. E-scooters usually have two wheels between 8 and 11 inches (20–28 cm) in diameter, and the band covers both compact 8-inch commuter wheels and larger 11-inch wheels that roll more calmly over surface joints.

Safety figures belong in the same table. In 2022 shared e-scooter casualties requiring medical treatment in Europe were estimated at 1.5 to 20.6 per million trips, and a 2022 review of medical notes found e-scooter injury rates closer to those of motorcycles than bicycles.

Use the table below as the lookup: each row carries a value and its unit, so you can place any machine you are considering on the same scale and then check the local cap before you ride.
